Monoprice Zero-G monitor - Excellent budget widescreen monitor

July 04, 2021

Overview

I recently purchased a 35” ultra-wide monitor from Monoprice. This is an upgrade from my 27” Monoprice monitor, which I now use as a second display. Overall, I’m very pleased with this ultra-wide monitor, especially for the price.

Quick review

This isn’t going to be a long post. It’s just a quick review with some pictures at the end. If anyone has a specific question about the monitor, please reach out to me on Mastodon. This is an ultra-wide monitor with a resolution of 3440x1440 and a 100Hz refresh rate. The screen is matte, not glossy. I’ve really enjoyed the 35” of space. It essentially lets me have two “full size” windows open side by side on the same screen. AMD’s FreeSync technology is built in but only available on the single DisplayPort. Speaking of ports, there is one HDMI 2.0, two HDMI 1.4, and a DisplayPort 1.2. It is somewhat of a small feature, but there is a hanger on the back of the monitor for storing your headphones. I actually use it often to free up a little extra desk space. I’ve had no issues at all with this monitor, and I’ve been using it daily for about six months now.

Order directly from Monoprice

One side note. I would recommend ordering directly from Monoprice’s website if you decide to purchase any of their monitors. I have not had any issues with the two that I purchased, but I have heard of issues with dead pixels on arrival. Monoprice seems to be very responsive if you ordered the monitor directly from them instead of Amazon. They still support the Amazon purchases, the response time just doesn’t seem to be as quick.
